Source Selection
NewsHX curates content from primary government sources, peer-reviewed journals, and established healthcare trade publications. Sources are selected based on:
- 1
Primary authority
CMS, NIH, CDC, FDA, AHRQ, and other federal agencies are preferred for regulatory and statistical claims. State agency sources are used for state-specific policy.
- 2
Peer-reviewed evidence
Clinical claims reference JAMA, NEJM, Health Affairs, BMJ, and specialty journals. MedPAC reports serve as the standard for Medicare payment and utilization data.
- 3
Established trade publications
Modern Healthcare, KFF Health News, Fierce Healthcare, McKnight's, and sector-specific outlets are used for industry news. Source reputation and editorial independence are evaluated before inclusion in our feeds.
- 4
Data recency
Statistical figures displayed on the platform reference the most recently enacted or published data. Estimates and projections are labeled as such. Lagged data sources (e.g., fiscal year vs. calendar year) are disclosed inline.
Review Process
All original data visualizations, statistical summaries, and editorial context on NewsHX are reviewed by the editorial team before publication. The review process includes:
Data verification
Source figures are cross-referenced against original publications. Where data is derived (e.g., year-over-year deltas from raw CMS or BLS series), the derivation methodology is documented and disclosed.
Clinical accuracy review
Content touching clinical protocols, diagnosis criteria, or treatment standards is reviewed against current published guidelines by a physician editor before publication.
Source attribution
Every data point, chart, and statistical claim includes source attribution. Government and journal sources link directly to the primary document or dataset where possible.
Date and context labeling
Data vintage is displayed alongside all figures. Proposed rules are distinguished from enacted rules. Estimates are labeled as estimates. Uncertainty is disclosed, not hidden.
News Feed Curation
Live news feeds on NewsHX are aggregated from RSS feeds provided by third-party publishers. NewsHX does not edit, alter, or editorialize third-party headlines or descriptions. Inclusion of a source in a NewsHX feed is not an endorsement of that source's editorial positions. Sources are reviewed periodically for relevance, reliability, and continued alignment with NewsHX's coverage mandate.
Corrections Policy
When an error in NewsHX's original content is identified — whether in a data figure, editorial summary, or source attribution — it will be corrected promptly. Significant corrections will be noted inline with the date of correction. We do not silently alter published content without acknowledgment.
To report an error or request a correction, use our contact page with the subject line "Correction Request."
Editorial Independence
NewsHX editorial decisions are made independently of advertising, partnership, or sponsorship relationships. Advertisers and partners do not influence source selection, feed curation, or data presentation. Commercial relationships, if any, are disclosed separately.
